No trip to Cervantes is complete without a stroll past the jetties. This is a particularly exciting attraction during the Rock Lobster fishing season (mid November to end of June). The town of Cervantes thrives on the multi-million dollar rock lobster industry. Visitors can enjoy the incredible marine life found in the waters off the coast and have the opportunity to interact with sea lions, enjoy swimming, snorkelling, fishing and exploring the offshore reefs and islands in the area.
Use your four wheel drive for what it was built for. Tracks through the sand dunes from Lancelin to Cervantes make for fun filled adventures.
Check out the Emu Downs Wind Farm. This newly completed wind farm provides a fantastic spectacle with its 48 massive turbines extending almost 120m in the air when the blades are at their highest point. View the turbines from the car park on Bibby Road, 30km east of Cervantes.
Visit lake thetis and the stromatolites. This site, walking distance at just 2 kms south east of Cervantes, is one of only five in Western Australia which feature Stromatolites. These natural features grow in the lake and are made up of the oldest known organisms on earth. Some fossil remains have been dated as old as 3.6 billion years! The lake itself was named after the sailing ship Thetis which surveyed the coast between 1847 and 1848.
