Surfers can enjoy a good reef break at Point Louise near Greenhead and when the breeze comes in, excellent wind surfing conditions are created both at Point Louise and Little Anchorage Bay.
There's also a good chance you'll be able to catch your lunch fishing off a jetty, the beach or by taking a charter tour.
Diving
The warm Leewin Current of this area brings with it tropical sealife which swims with temperate species. This creates a very diverse diving environment offshore. Hard and soft corals along with sponges, cover the numerous limestone reefs. Seagrass meadows and the absence of rivers flowing into the sea allows for very healthy conditions for marine life.
Dive or snorkel the Jurien Bay Marine Park and be amazed by limestone reefs with their caves, grottos and overhangs. These reefs are home to colourful sponges and ascidians surrounded by a diverse variety of fish and other marine life. The Park is also special as it harbours marine life endemic to the area as well as species at the limit of their normal habitats.
Sea Lions
Fisherman's Island, south of Greenhead is an Australian Sea Lion breeding colony, therefore access is restricted. Sea Lion viewing tours with Government registered guides are available.
Leeman is also renowned for its significant sea lion populations - its not unusual to spot one of these captivating creatures lazing in the sun on the beach. Beagle Island north of Leeman is a breeding colony and home to the largest population of the Australian Sea Lion in Western Australia, estimated between 150-250 animals depending on the breeding cycle.
Fishing
Fishing is a popular past-time in this area and many amateurs have been known to catch the prized dhufish and bald chin groper in these waters. Hangover Bay and Kangaroo Point are renowned for the abundant fish to be caught, from a boat or off the beach.
Windsurfing
Leeman is a wind surfing mecca. The 'Screaming Leeman' tournament each January presents this exciting sport with some of the best in the business.
