Carnarvon
Welcome to the fruit bowl of Western Australia
Famous for its banana plantations, Carnarvon on Australia’s Coral Coast is the southern gateway to the world-famous Ningaloo Reef and provides the ideal base for exploring Mount Augustus and the Kennedy Ranges to the east.
A friendly community nestled at the mouth of Australia’s mighty Gascoyne River, Carnarvon lies just over 900 kilometres north of Perth on the North West Coastal Highway.
Carnarvon’s fresh produce
Food doesn’t get any fresher. Many of the local growers sell seasonal fruit and vegetables direct from their farms. You can also visit some of the banana plantations and select from Western Australia’s best produce at the Carnarvon Growers Market.
Top quality seafood is also on the local menu. The town supports a thriving prawn, scallop, crab and fishing industry, so there's always plenty for you to sample. From May to October, freshly caught seafood can be purchased directly from the seafood factories.
Quobba Station, Red Bluff and Gnaraloo
The pristine beachside hideaways of Quobba Station, Red Bluff and Gnaraloo in Australia’s Carnarvon region offer some of the State’s best fishing, surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing and swimming. Towering cliffs also provide the ideal platform to view humpback whales just metres off the coast during their annual migration between June and November.
