The Bowes River Mouth is a scenic beach favoured among surfers. The sandstone escarpment following the river is rich in Indigenous culture. Cast a line from the jetty or the beach in search of ocean delights like tailor, mulloway, snapper, whiting and herring.
Migrating humpback whales are regularly spotted in season from the Whale Watching Lookout.

Four wheel drive tracks to Little Bay and Bowes River Mouth are picturesque and rewarding for picnics, fishing, wildflowers and birds. The Bowes River is a special place for bird life including pelicans, black swans, ducks, heron, egrets, eagles, terns and osprey.
