Exmouth

Exmouth is the northern gateway to Western Australia’s (WA) Ningaloo Marine Park. Located on the eastern side of the North West Cape, this charming coastal town is a two and a half hour flight or 15 hours' drive north of Perth. Here, the rugged gorges of Cape Range National Park give way to pristine white beaches, crystal blue waters and vibrant coral reefs that are home to an abundance of marine life.

Exmouth attractions

  • Dive or snorkel Australia's largest fringing reef in WA’s pristine Ningaloo Marine Park, just a short drive or bus ride from Exmouth. Hire equipment from local dive shops or join a tour and experience everything from diving and drift snorkelling and kayaking to cruising in a glass-bottom boat. See the diving and snorkelling pages for more details.
  • Swim with the Ningaloo whale sharks. Every year, from late March to early July, visitors have the chance to experience this unique, once-in-a lifetime-opportunity to swim with the world's largest fish. Tours are available daily during the season.
  • Discover the rugged beauty of Cape Range National Park. Just 40 kilometres from Exmouth, this national park offers some of the most spectacular gorges and canyons in WA, as well as amazing wildflowers, wildlife and 50 kilometres of pristine beaches.
  • Take a cruise along Yardie Creek, or join a four wheel drive safari tour of the Cape Range National Park.
  • Watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean from Vlamingh Head Lighthouse.
  • Take a glass-bottom boat tour from Bundegi Beach and view the reef in comfort. Alternatively experience the reef from a sea kayak.
