Shark Bay World Heritage Area

Famous for its friendly Monkey Mia dolphins, Shark Bay is testimony to the wonders of the natural world, well known for its white beaches, turquoise waters and rust-red sand dunes. It is also renowned for its marine life, on any visit you're likely to spot humpback and southern right whales, dugongs, turtles, dolphins and manta rays.

Shark Bay World Heritage Area lies approximately 830km north west of Perth, a two and a half hour flight to Denham township, the regions gateway.  It became Western Australia's first world heritage listed area in 1991 and now is one of only a handful of places across the globe to satisfy all four criteria for world heritage listing, having important evolutionary and biological histories, unique formations and natural habitats where threatened species survive.
