Chapman Valley

Chapman Valley is a charming agricultural region renowned for its fertile soils and beautiful landscapes. Drive through the region past rolling green hills, breakaway country, rivers and pristine coastline. Just 20 minutes from Geraldton, Chapman Valley is also becoming something of a lifestyle choice for people wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. As such, a host of alternative industries are developing including vineyards, olive groves and aquaculture ventures.

Sample the valley's delights by heading out along the Chapman Valley Road and visiting Ego Creek, Red Hill and Chapman Valley Wines. Restaurant facilities are also available at Chapman Valley Wines.

The unique shape of the ancient Moresby Ranges, formed 50 million years ago, provides a stunning backdrop to your travels. Combined with undulating landscape, stunning wildflowers from August to October and fields of golden canola crops, a drive through the ranges is a truly memorable experience.

Charming historical buildings dot the Valley landscape, many remnants of historic townsites. Nanson and Nabawa townsites, in particular, boast a selection of historic architecture. Nanson is also the home to the Chapman Valley Historical Society, open Wednesdays 10am to 12pm and every fourth Sunday 2pm to 4pm. The Nanson hamlet includes a charming walk trail around the river's edge. Also visit Yuna and stop in at the tavern for a cold beer to soak up the country atmosphere.

With over 200 species of birds, Chapman Valley offers many places to glimpse or photograph these beautiful creatures. Ospreys at Coronation Beach, black swans and mountain ducks at Noondamurrs Pool or even the rare mallee fowl in Wandana Reserve east of Yuna.

Coronation Beach is a windsurfing mecca which draws visitors from across the globe. Europeans in particular make use of the camping ground to rest their heads at night before partaking in a day's action on the waves. With cross onshore winds, Coronation Beach is regarded as one of the world's best locations for wave jumping, providing a viewing spectacle for onlookers.
