2 Day self-guided wildflower tour

Day 1 - Perth to Cervantes

Head north from Perth along Brand Highway and cut west along Bibby Road towards Cervantes. As you turn west, look out for roadside wildflowers in Badgingarra National Park, where you can expect to see vast areas of heath, acacia, myrtle, banksias and casuarinas. Head into the Pinnacles Desert for a drive or stroll to view these mystical formations. For a different view, take yourself on a wildflower tour of the Pinnacles at sunset where the waning light creates an eerie glow over the formations. Be sure to pop into Seashells Cafe on the foreshore for a gourmet coffee on the pillow laden couches in the sunshine.

Overnight options: Cervantes, Jurien Bay, Green Head or Leeman

Day 2: Cervantes to Perth

This morning, wake up with a stroll along one of Green Head’s walk trails taking in beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. Head to Mount Lesueur National Park, one of the most diverse and rich floral areas in the world with some 820 species in total. Take in one of Mount Lesueur’s nature trails or simply keep your eyes peeled as you drive along the highway for banksias, starflowers, smoke bush, hakea, grevilleas and leschenaultias. If you have a four wheel drive, stop in at Stockyard Gully Caves off Coolimba Eneabba Road. The caves are created by a river system that has etched a waterway through the limestone underground. Be sure to take a torch as light fades to black the further into the 300 metre underground cave you walk. Join the Brand Highway at the Coorow Green Head road and head south to the Badgingarra Nature Trail. Stretch your legs and take in the two kilometre designated walk path. Rejoin the highway for your drive back to Perth.
