Whilst the prime tourist season for the Coral Coast region is slowly winding down, there is still an abundance of things to do in every town from Cervantes through to Exmouth. October is bringing about some fantastic events and festivals, which are highlights for visitors and locals alike. Here are some of the exciting things that are happening throughout the Coral Coast region this month:
October 6 // Harvest Festival // Macpherson Street, Carnamah
12:00pm - 8:00pm
October 6 will see the return of Carnamah’s inaugural Harvest Festival. On Saturday, Macpherson Street will turn into a hub of activity, with vintage tractor and car displays, an animal farm, activities for kids, produce tastings, live music and food stalls – plus more! Alongside this street festival, a number of events and exhibitions are springing up around the town:
Under the Stars (Friday, 5 October)
Macpherson Homestead, 6pm – 9pm
Enjoy a picnic under the stars, whilst listening to stories from Bardi man Ron Bradfield Jr, as he explores how all of our stories are interconnected under the same sky. There will also be live music from local musicians – sounds like magic!
Unveiled: Retrospective & Expansion of 10863 Bushranger (Saturday, 6 October)
The Bank Gallery Space
A series of new artworks featuring Carnamah bushranger, Frank Thomas
Barley – From Field to Glass (Saturday, 6 October)
An exploration of why brewers use barley and the process of how it is made into beer – including samples of malt, hops and beer tasting.
Long Table Harvest Lunch (Saturday, 6 October)
North Midlands Project, 12:30pm – 2:00pm
Enjoy the sounds of opera and live music whilst experiencing a wonderful selection of locally sourced North Midlands produce. Sharing platters will be served, including delicious delicacies such as Darling Creek lamb, Goats cheese, Flat bread made with Irwin Valley Lupin seed, and seasonal fruits – along with matching beers and wines.

October 6 // Dongara Markets // Town Park, Hosken Street, Dongara
8:00am - 12:00pm
Browse through a variety of local stalls whilst enjoying live music from the wonderful Cassy Botica. Take your pick at a range of home and garden wares, plants, preserves, honey, candles, cards, books and fresh fruit and vegetables. Food is available, with a jumping castle and train rides for children, making it the perfect family outing. Learn more here.
October 6 – 8 // Deep Space Astronomy Experience
Join The Mobile Observatory and Australia's largest mobile telescope for public viewing for unforgettable views of planets, star clusters and even distant galaxies under the beautiful dark skies of Exmouth. Images are in such detail that you'll see the polar ice caps on Mars, coloured stars and even distant galaxies on this moonless night. Small numbers ensure plenty of telescope time, but you must book early as this is sure to sell out quickly. Learn more here.
6:30am - 11:00am
Head down to Faunteroy Park on Sunday morning for the Wildflower Festival of Running. Avid runners can take on the half marathon (21.1km) race, or for those who would prefer something slightly less intense, try your hand at the 5.25km or 10.5km routes. Learn more here.
25 October- 28 October // Nambung Country Music Muster 2018 // Nambung Station Stay and B&B Cervantes
This four-day music festival is held on Nambung Station, a working sheep and cattle station just two hours north of Perth. Over the four days, a range of talented country artists such as Peter Denahy, Dianne Lindsay, Peter Simpson and Sharon Heaslip will take to the stage to play tunes which are sure to get you up and dancing. The Festival also features a Poets’ Breakfast and Walkups along other opportunities. Learn more here.
28 October // Oktoberfest at Froth Brewery // Froth Craft Brewery

Celebrate like the Germans do at Froth Craft Brewery on Sunday, 28 October. Here, you will experience a Sunday Fest full of Dirndls, Lederhosen, Dunkel Bier, Berliner Weissbier, Kölsch Bier, thigh slapping, Bratwurst, pigtails, Sauerkraut, Oompah Musik, Schweinshaxe, Spätzle, yodelling, pretzels and gratuitous good ol' fashioned and family friendly Oktoberfest fun.
