With its largest and richest sea-grass beds in the world, it is home to Bottlenose dolphins, Dugongs (sea cows), sharks, Green and Loggerhead Turtles, Manta rays and four mammal species not found in the wild anywhere else.
Shark Bay is one of only two places in the world where living marine stromatolites exist. These ancient structures are examples of what life on Earth was like 3.5 billion years ago and are considered the earliest record of life on earth.
