Cape Range National Park
The ancient Cape Range National Park is home to spectacular limestone ranges and deep canyons, surrounded by 50km of pristine beaches.
Cape Range National Park is situate on the western side of Exmouth, the northern gateway to the Coral Coast region. Here, you'll find some of the area's most iconic attractions including Yardie Creek and Turquoise Bay - voted Western Australia's top beach by TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards 2022.
The park covers 50,581 hectares and its northern boundary is just 40 kilometres (or 45 minutes) from Exmouth. Wildlife is abundant with a variety of birds, emus, euros and red kangaroos. The park comes alive with wildflowers in winter and boasts 630 species of plants as well as more than 100 species of land birds and native marsupials. The brilliant red sturt desert pea, which flowers in late winter, is a particularly popular flora species here. Look out for mulla mullas, wattles, everlastings, native fuschias, fanflowers and dampiera within the park.
Cape Range National Park offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors interested in the natural environment. You'll find great walk and hike trails, and particularly scenic wildflower viewing areas at Mandu Mandu Gorge, Shothole Canyon, Charles Knife Canyon and Yardie Creek Gorge.
Land-based attractions
Charles Knife Canyon Gorge
Located on the eastern side of the National Park, Charles Knife Canyon boasts otherworldly views across the gorge and rugged landscape.
Shothole Canyon
Slightly north of Charles Knife Canyon, Shothole Canyon is one of the most rugged areas of the National Park and is accessible by 4WD.
Vlamingh Head Lighthouse
Follow the scenic drive up to Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, at the northern tip of Cape Range National Park, for incredible views across the landscape and Ningaloo Reef.
Mandu Mandu Gorge
Following a dry river bed covered with water-smoothed rocks, Mandu Mandu Gorge offers a scenic hike into the west side of the National Park.
Yardie Creek
Yardie Creek is a highlight of the National Park, winding its way through the ancient landscape to meet the Ningaloo Reef.
Coastal attractions
Jurabi Turtle Centre
Located just before the entrance to the National Park, Jurabi Turtle Centre is one of the best places to experience turtles mating, nesting and hatching in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.
Lakeside
