Gwoonwardu Mia, Gascoyne Aboriginal Heritage and Cultural Centre is a multipurpose centre that celebrates the Gascoyne regions' five Aboriginal language groups' culture and country.
Located in Carnarvon, you can discover and experience the history, art, heritage and culture of the five Aboriginal language groups of the Gascoyne region: Yinggarda, Bayungu, Malgana, Thadgari and Thalanyji
The centre houses a permanent collection as well as exhibitions, Artist-in-Resident program, conference and meeting rooms, outdoor event space, an ethnobotanical garden, gallery shop and cafe.
Permanent Exhibit: Burlganyja Wanggaya - Old People Talking
This multi-award winning interactive permanent exhibition that tells the stories of the Gascoyne's Aboriginal people in their own words and language.
The exhibition includes the 33,000 year old shell necklace, images, artefacts and objects, the amazing "Burrowing Bee" or Mungurrgurra film, an interactive light table and a skydome experience.
Gallery Shop and Artwork
Not only can you meet local Aboriginal people and purchase artworks, but you can delight in the cuisine available at the Cafe. The centre includes galleries, conference and meeting rooms, a gallery shop, artist in residence, and performance spaces.

Monday - Friday (year round): 09:30am to 3:30pm
Weekends (April to September only): 09:00am to 3:00pm
Closed on public holidays.
