Sandy Cape

Secret no more – Sandy Cape has grown in popularity with visitors unable to resist photographing and posting images of this idyllic location.

Sandy Cape is a white beach situated in a small, sheltered bay offering great swimming, snorkelling, fishing and sandboarding. SUP'ing is popular with the bay offering calm conditions for water activities. Licensed road vehicles are permitted in the park and are allowed to use the beach between the high and low tide line. Look for signage before taking out the fishing line as some restrictions are in place.

The turnoff to the 7km unsealed road to reach the campsite area is located 10km north of Jurien Bay. The campsite is 2WD-accessible but there are excellent 4WD tracks to the north and south of the campsite. Pristine dunes run the length of the beach so don't forget your sandboard if you want to make the most of the dunes. For a sensational inland and coastal vista head to Grigson’s Lookout, 6 km north of the Sandy Cape turnoff.

Whilst at Sandy Cape, why not also visit North Head? Follow the 4WD-only tracks west off Sandy Cape Road to the well-preserved remains of a WWII radar installation with two intact 'igloo' shelters, original foundations and an underground tank. Walk trails around the structures pass Bartle’s memorial, built to commemorate a man taken by a shark in 1968. Please be mindful that the environment around this area is fragile so stick to pre-existing 4WD tracks, park in the designated parking area (100m back from the igloos) and leave no trace behind. Camping at Sandy Cape

• Camping sites at Sandy Camp are on a first come, first serve basis. No pre-booking is available.
• Toilet and BBQ facilities are available, but no drinking water.
• Dogs are allowed at Sandy Cape but need to be on a leash in some areas.
