The largest city on the Coral Coast, Geraldton has established itself as a contemporary coastal hub of cafés, shops, street art and galleries. The city’s beaches and sunny climate make it a hot-spot for water sport enthusiasts and visitors looking to soak up the sun on pristine beaches. The city is a 4.5 hour drive or 50 minute flight with Qantas from Perth.
Geraldton is a fantastic base from which to explore the Coral Coast region. Only a short drive to the south, experience Greenough’s historic charm and picturesque river, enjoy Ellendale Pool. Fly or cruise 60km off the coast to witness the stunning Houtmann Abrolhos Islands, now a gazetted national park. Travel one-hour east to Mullewa – a wildflower hotspot. Learn about the historical story of Oakabella Homestead established in the 1850's. There is a lot on offer in and around Geraldton.
Perth to Geraldton
Take an early flight to Geraldton from Perth with Qantas who depart Perth for Geraldton twice a day from the Qantas terminal at Perth Airport. Flight time is approximately 50 mins. Pick up your hire car to get the most out of your time in Geraldton and to fully explore the surrounding areas. Budget, Avis and Hertz have offices at Geraldton Airport.
Upon arrival in the city, take a drive and walk around the Geraldton Marina and foreshore and enjoy some breakfast looking over the exquisite new marina with stunning panoramic ocean views, at Skeetas Restaurant.

Take a look at the live lobster industry at Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative which operates Live Lobster tours in their state-of-the-art processing plant located at Geraldton Fishermen’s Wharf. The tour provides a behind-the-scenes insight into this multi-million dollar regional industry. The tour aims to educate people on the Western Rock Lobster industry and why the clear waters of the Indian Ocean are a haven for this seafood delicacy. Try your hand at holding a live lobster guaranteed to spark squeals of delight, all captured in the flurry of camera lights. Tours depart Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am.
Located at the Geraldton Fishermen's Wharf, enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at Barnacles located five minutes from the Geraldton city centre. This small fast food takeaway and eat-in cafe is open six days a week and Friday nights. Enjoy your lunch while watching the fishing boats arrive or a boat being put back in the water after time on the hardstand, and enjoy one of Geraldton’s famous rock lobsters.
