Gascoyne Wildflower Trail

The Gascoyne region is home to some incredible and unique wildflowers which bloom during late winter and spring.
This itinerary can be done in 3 - 5 days depending on where you are travelling from however a trip to Shark Bay and Carnarvon during wildflower season is an absolute must-see.

1Day 1-2: Shark Bay
Heading north to Shark Bay, keep an eye out along North-West Coastal for everlasting fields near Billabong Roadhouse. On your way out to Monkey Mia, home of the bottlenose dolphins, follow Stella Rowley Drive to find scarlet runner and wild rose.

2Day 2-3: Francois Peron National Park
Visit Francois Peron National Park, where the contrasting colours of the scenery range from deep reds to brilliant blues and are as vivid as the wildflowers. Those travelling north of the Peron Homestead will require a four-wheel drive vehicle. The Shark Bay daisy, wattles, dampiera and purple peas are commonly found in this area.

3Day 3-4: Carnarvon
Carnarvon will reward you with outstanding wildflower displays of parakeelya, purple vetch, northern bluebells and seasonal everlastings. Try Miabooyla Beach to find green birdflower, tassel top and dampier pea; talk to the Visitor Centre about the best spots. 4Day 4-5: Kennedy Range National Park
Consider heading east to the Kennedy Range National Park, located 55km from Gascoyne Junction. Along the drive, you’ll find roadside displays of wildflowers.
