Karijini Eco Retreat is one of Australia’s leading eco-tourism attractions, situated 1,500 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia’s second-largest national park.

The retreat offers safari-style eco tents, cabins and campsites nestled in beautiful bushland at the edge of Joffre Gorge (Jijingunha), along with a popular outback restaurant and bar, camp bush kitchens with barbeques, a kiosk supplying snacks and souvenirs, guided tours, and access to the Park's walks, hiking trails and guided tours.

Stay under the stars in the campground, or in comfortable tented accommodation at the first and only facility to offer a glamping experience in the Karijini National Park, while experiencing a taste of genuine mateship and friendly hospitality.

Karijni is a wonderland of ancient, natural landscapes formed more than two billion years ago. You'll find yourself awestruck by the labyrinth of plunging chasms and towering waterfalls. Spend your days fuelled by adventure, exploring breathtaking gorges and slot canyons, swimming in turquoise waterholes, marvelling at wildflowers and wildlife, and indulging in delicious food and wine.

The multi-award-winning Karijini Eco Retreat is 100% Aboriginal-owned by Gumala Enterprises, proudly representing the Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region.

Luxury Eco Tent

The Luxury Eco Tents offer an exclusive experience like no other, with bespoke design, high-end interiors, furnishings of natural wood and leather, local Aboriginal artwork, air conditioning/heating, a private ensuite bathroom with stone bench tops, an indulgence of space, and pristine bushland views of the spectacular Karijini National Park. The Luxury Eco Tents sleep maximum 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children up to 12 years old. Rates include cooked or continental breakfast, picnic lunch hamper with an insulated backpack, complimentary mini-bar, 'bush butler' service, priority restaurant booking and daily housekeeping. All the accommodation incorporates eco-friendly designs and practices to ensure sustainable management of the natural and cultural values of one of the most ancient landscapes on earth. The Luxury Eco Tents feature one king bed (option to add sofa bed), a lounge area, mini fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, hairdryer. Pillows, linen, bath towels and complimentary bathroom amenities are provided. Solar power operates the individual air conditioning/heating, ceiling fan, lights, and power points. There is also an in-room safe and a front deck with table and chairs. Rooms are serviced daily.

Deluxe Plus Eco Tent

Enjoy a premium location and beautiful design of Karijini Eco Retreat's newest accommodation type, the Premium Eco Tents. These include stunning national park views through floor to ceiling glass frontage, king size bed, mini fridge and private ensuite bathroom. The Premium Eco Tents sleep up to 2 people and come with spacious, stylish interiors, quality bedding, solar powered lights and power points, a private ensuite bathroom with shower, and include continental breakfast served at the Retreat's restaurant. All the accommodation incorporates eco-friendly designs and practices to ensure sustainable management of the natural and cultural values of one of the most ancient landscapes on earth. The Premium Eco Tents feature one king bed. Pillows, linen, heated blankets, bath towels and complimentary bathroom amenities are provided. There is also an in-room safe and a front deck with table and chairs. Rooms are serviced daily.

Deluxe Eco Tent

Room capacity: 4

Experience one of the best glamping spots in Western Australia, nestled amongst native bush at the edge of Joffre Gorge. Swap that sleeping bag for a comfortable king size bed (or single beds if you prefer) with your own open-air ensuite bathroom. The Deluxe Eco Tents can accommodate 2 to 4 people and come with quality bedding, solar powered lights, a private ensuite bathroom with shower, and include continental breakfast served at the Retreat's restaurant. The Eco Tents are semi-permanent structures that incorporate ecologically sustainable principles and can easily be erected and dismantled in remote areas with little impact on the natural environment using recycled materials wherever possible. The Deluxe Eco Tents are available as a king/twin configuration with one king bed or two single beds, or as a triple/quad configuration with one zip king bed plus one bunk bed. Pillows, linen, bath towels and complimentary bathroom amenities are provided. There is also an in-room safe and a front deck with table and chairs. Rooms are serviced every four days. A small number of Deluxe Eco Tents have power for sleep apnoea machines, please enquire.

Standard Eco Tent

The Standard Eco Tents offer camping with creature comforts. These tents come with quality beds, linen and towels and sleep up to 4 people. They do not have lights or power points so you can truly switch off! Guests staying in the Standard Eco Tents have the use of shared ablutions including flushing toilets, solar hot water showers, and basins. Solar hot water temperature is supplied by the sun and can be affected by weather conditions. The Eco Tents are semi-permanent structures that incorporate ecologically sustainable principles and can easily be erected and dismantled in remote areas with little impact on the natural environment using recycled materials wherever possible. The Standard Eco Tents feature one zip king bed and one bunk bed. Pillows, linen and bath towels are provided. There is also a front deck with a table and chairs. No lights or power. Rooms are unserviced.

Eco Cabin

Room capacity: 4

Cosy accommodation suited to couples, groups and families, the Eco Cabins offer basic, comfortable accommodation. They are small but big in value! These compact cabins are in pods of two and feature a small fan, reading lights, and a shared outdoor seating area connecting the two cabins. Large windows offer stunning vistas toward Joffre Gorge. Guests have the use of shared ablutions including flushing toilets, solar hot water showers and basins. Solar hot water temperature is supplied by the sun and can be affected by weather conditions. The Eco Cabins are available as a king/twin configuration with one zip king bed or two single beds, or as a triple/quad configuration with two bunk beds. Pillows, linen and bath towels are provided. Rooms are unserviced.

Campsites (Unpowered)

Room capacity: 6

Karijini Eco Retreat's Campsites are suitable for tents, campervans and caravans. Maximum occupancy is one vehicle (plus tent, trailer or caravan) and up to six people per site. All vehicles must be parked on a designated site. To keep the eco status, the sites are unpowered. Camping features include shared bathroom facilities with flushing toilets and solar hot water showers, and an undercover bush kitchen with gas barbeque, sink, preparation area, and seating for those looking to self-cater. There is a kiosk selling cold drinks, ice creams, confectionery, takeaway tea and coffee, and ice, as well as a range of unique Karijini souvenirs. There is also an on-site restaurant and bar with takeaway options. Please note: Generators are welcome to be used in the camping loops between 4pm - 8pm daily. Please bring your own cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. The solar hot water temperature is supplied by the sun and can be affected by weather conditions, and hot showers are not guaranteed.
