Step aboard Kalbarri's exclusive river cruise — the only tour of its kind on the serene Murchison River. Your experience begins with a warm welcome and a brief safety induction before setting off on a 12-kilometre round journey, travelling approximately 6 kilometres upstream to the furthest navigable point of the river.
As you glide along, enjoy commentary about the region's rich history, local fishing traditions, and the diverse wildlife and plant life that make this ecosystem so special. You're encouraged to join the conversation, share your own insights, or simply sit back and take in the tranquil surroundings.
The scenery gradually opens to expansive views and low shrublands, keep your eyes peeled for ospreys, kites, pelicans, egrets, black swans, and the striking white-breasted sea eagle. If you're lucky, you may also spot kangaroos, emus, or goats grazing along the riverbanks.
As the cruise continues, marvel at the vivid rock formations and the narrow channel near Goat Island before reaching Rocky Crossing — a perfect spot to stretch your legs and absorb the atmosphere. The return journey concludes at the dramatic river mouth, where the Murchison meets the Indian Ocean — a powerful and unforgettable finale to your adventure.
