Know for being all shades of Pink, Purple and Red, the lake gets its colouring from the algae that lives in the water, Dunaliella Salina. When exposed to sunlight the algae produce Beta-carotene the same pigment found in carrots and other veggies.
The vibrancy changes depending on the day and time, we recommend visiting on a clear day between 10 am and 2 pm for the best results when the sun is high. Make sure you bring your camera!
