There are more than 12,000 species of wildflowers in Western Australia, the Midwest is home to one of the largest varieties! Wildflower season starts in July and lasts through until October, with such a small window of opportunity it pays to know where to go and when.
Mullewa comes alive in winter and spring when you can often see carpets of wildflowers gracing the town's surrounds. The region is also home to the rare Wreath Flower! The Wildflower Walk is 2,820 metre circuit through bush land renowned for its stunning wildflower displays. This easy-to-follow trail takes between 40 and 70 minutes to complete.
In the heart of Geraldton lies the Chapman River Regional Park with its vast array of flowering plants, bird and animal life. There are over 300 species of native plants throughout the Chapman River Regional Park, some that aren't found anywhere else. There is also a large variety of native birds, reptiles and frogs.
Mills Lookout offers spectacular views across Chapman Valley to the east and Geraldton to the west.
Other options include the Coal seam Conservation Park, a nature lovers paradise.
