206 Connell Road, Geraldton, 6530
Known as WA’s largest rock lobster exporter, Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative has supplied crayfish for 70 years under its Brolos brand name.
It was started by Geraldton fishermen and is still primarily owned by owners of fishing licenses.
Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative’s latest venture allows people to visit the Geraldton Fisherman’s Wharf as a boat comes in to unload its catch, watch fish being filleted and buy them within minutes along with live lobsters.
Head down to Fishing Boat Harbour, watch the boats arrive, unload their catch and you can purchase direct from the new shop 'Brolos Fresh' next to Barnacles.
Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative also operates Live Lobster tours in their state-of-the-art processing plant located at Geraldton Fishermen’s Wharf. The tours are currently suspended during the COVID19 period.
The tour provides a behind-the-scenes insight into this multi-million dollar regional industry. The tour aims to educate people on the Western Rock Lobster industry and why the clear waters of the Indian Ocean are a haven for this seafood delicacy. Try your hand at holding a live lobster guaranteed to spark squeals of delight, all captured in the flurry of camera lights.
If you would like to experience the atmosphere and energy of this exciting part of the Brolos lobster operations, tours depart Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10am.
