Head to Mingenew and Three Springs for an abundance of unique wreath flowers, everlastings, hakea and more - check with local information centres.
Travelling north between Mingenew and Mullewa is a wildflower ‘must-do’ - the Coalseam Conservation Park. The park is THE hot spot for everlasting carpets with stunning white, pink and yellow everlastings as far as the eye can see.
In Mullewa explore the Everlasting Cultural Trails, rich with blooming flora and history. When entering, look along the highway for bush flowers and orange daviesia (the bacon and egg flower). East of Mullewa is Pindar where wreath flowers are common along the roadside and Canna where orchids and everlasting fields bloom. West of Mullewa is Tenindewa where yellow gentlemen’s buttons and everlastings grow wild.
Overnight: Geraldton
Take a walk in Geraldton’s Chapman River Regional Park, home to flowers, birds and reptiles. Join the guided walks offered on the weekend. Ask the Visitor Centre for times and dates.
Just north of Geraldton is the Chapman Valley and Yuna where wildflowers and everlastings abound on the roadside. If travelling on the weekend, stop into Nanson and visit the Burnt Barrel for a gourmet outback barbecue and handcrafted beer.
Heading north to Kalbarri, make sure to stop at Northampton’s Elephant Lookout for a number of wild orchids.
Overnight: Kalbarri
Kalbarri National Park is home to breathtaking coastal cliffs and deep river gorges. The National Park has roughly 800 species of native flora, many of which are endemic, including the coveted Kalbarri spider orchid.
Don’t forget the Coastal Cliffs, where the walkways and trails are lit up with colour. Obtain a wildflower map from the Visitor Centre.
